Why I choose to use WordPress

When it comes to creating a website for your business, there are a variety of options to choose from.

A custom-built website can be great for businesses that need a unique function, look and feel, but a Self hosted WordPress website is often the best choice for most businesses (especially those whom I consider to be my clients – the small business owner, the electrician, personal trainer, GP, small retail store, artist, coach, restaurant etc.)

Here are some of the reasons why:

First, WordPress is incredibly user-friendly. With its intuitive dashboard and simple editing tools, even those with limited technical knowledge can easily manage a website. Once they have been given the website guidelines that I provide all my small Business Package clients with, they are in control and can update opening hours or menus whenever they want, without having to pay someone to do it for them.

Second, WordPress is highly secure. It has built-in security features that protect your website from malicious attacks and data breaches. Plus, it offers regular updates to ensure that your website is always running the latest version. If using a self hosted WordPress, you can install additional security measures to ensure your site is always protected.

Third, WordPress is highly scalable. As your business grows, you can easily add new features and functionality to your website. This makes it a great platform for businesses that want to expand their reach and grow their customer base.

Fourth, self-hosted WordPress websites offer a high degree of control and flexibility. Unlike other hosted CMS platforms, you will have full control over your website, from the design and content to the plugins and features. This allows you to customise your site to perfectly suit your needs and vision.

Fifth, WordPress is a great choice for businesses looking to improve their search engine rankings and visibility as a WordPress website is highly optimised for SEO. It has built-in features that make it easy to create optimised content and ensure that your website is properly indexed by search engines. Plus, there are a variety of SEO plugins that can help you further improve your website’s search engine performance. As WordPress is highly customisable, you can easily add features, plugins, and themes to your website in order to make it more attractive to search engines. This allows you to tailor your website to meet your specific SEO needs.

Finally, WordPress is a cost-effective solution. It is open-source, which means it is free to use. Plus, there are plenty of free themes and plugins available, so you can create a professional website without breaking the bank.

WordPress is a versatile and popular content management system (CMS) platform used by millions of websites worldwide. It has been tried and tested, offers powerful features, an easy-to-use interface, and a variety of customisation options that in my opinion (based on years of experience) make it an ideal choice for small business owners.
